While there are many ways to enjoy the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area, we at Seashine think there is truly nothing like being on the water. October is here, and the wind is picking up and the torrential heat wave from September has cooled down a bit. And while the days are starting to get shorter, the winds are just perfect to enjoy a morning or afternoon sail or cruise on the water!

In this article we will explore our monthly special event: the annual Fleet Week in San Francisco, take a look at some popular East Bay marinas that we offer yacht maintenance, yacht management and boat cleaning and detailing services to, and a fun day trip leaving the Berkeley Marina. And of course Seashine is always here to help with all your boat cleaning and yacht maintenance needs along the way! We provide top notch Bay Area and Berkeley yacht management and sailboat detailing, Emeryville Marina boat cleaning and detailing services, and Emery Cove yacht maintenance and yacht management services. We also provide services to most marinas throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. This includes all Sausalito marinas including: Sausalito Yacht Harbor, Clipper Yacht Harbor, Cass Gidley Marina, Galilee Harbor, Kappas Marina, Marinship Yacht Harbor, and Schoomaker Marina. We also proudly serve marinas in Alameda, Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond, San Rafael, San Francisco, and marinas throughout the Peninsula.

Please send over special events we have not featured in the article and as always we would love to see your fun pictures and share your adventures on the bay with our audience at Seashine.

September Featured Event: Fleet Week

Fleet Week 2015 is almost here! The annual event in San Francisco starts on October 5th and lasts for a week through Monday, October 12th. Featuring a 3 day air show, parade of boats, boat tours and more, the event is a must see experience. It has been celebrated since 1981 and takes place every October on the Marina Green. The event continually attracts millions of visitors, is a real unique display and patronage to our sea servicemen and servicewomen, and a unique chance for civilians and military personnel to learn and share humanitarian best practices and interact for a week full of fun. Bring the kids and watch the air show, or jump aboard a naval vessel for a complete tour, and of course live music, great food and off the grid entertainment will be at its fullest. Quote of the month:

We must free ourselves of the hope the sea will ever rest. We must learn to sail in high winds.

 – By Aristotle Onassis

Adventure of the Month: Full day trip from Emeryville Marina to Downtown Benicia

Leaving Emeryville Marina head out through the pillars. Depending on the wind and activities for the day, you can sail or cruise up around Treasure Island and catch the views of the bustling fleet week or just head south towards the San Rafael Bridge. We described the event in detail above with a link for more information. Head due South across the slot and hopefully catch some good wind as you pass Angel Island. As you are cruising keep your eyes out for all the naval aircrafts in the air, and tankers on the water and head under the San Rafael bridge into the San Pablo Bay. Winds can pick-up so set the sails to head under the Carquinez Bridge and into the Benicia Marina. Park your boat and walk a couple blocks to the quaint downtown featuring fun cafes, elegant restaurants and a nice atmosphere for family and friends. Call ahead if you would like to stay at a guest berth and make a weekend out of it.

Happy boating!
