While there are many ways to enjoy the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area, we at Seashine think there is truly nothing like being on the water. November is almost here and the wind has been relatively mild and the beautiful weather continues well into the Fall season. As the days are getting shorter, the winds and weather are still perfect to enjoy a morning or afternoon sail or cruise on the water! While there have been many talks of a wet winter, most of us our wondering if El Niño will actually touch down in the Bay Area. The great news is the weather continues to be dry and Bay Area races and events continue to fill the calendars, and El Niño looks like if it does come, it will not make it until the end of December.
In this article we will explore our monthly special event: The Big Sail, the 10th Annual Race between Bay Area Rivals UC Berkeley and Stanford Nov. 18th. Next we will continue our mini-series of marinas across the Bay Area, and take a look at some popular East Bay marinas in Richmond that we offer yacht maintenance, yacht management and boat cleaning and boat detailing services to. Finally we will take a virtual ride on a fun day trip leaving the Marina Bay Yacht Harbor, and our monthly sea captain quote.

November Featured Event: The Big Sail
On Tuesday, November 17th, at 12PM Bay Area rivals Stanford and Cal Berkeley Sailing Clubs battle it out on the Bay. They will host the 10th annual Big Sail on the San Francisco Bay in front of the infamous Golden Gate Bridge at the St. Francis Yacht Club. The Stanford and Cal bands and cheerleaders will be present to show their team spirit and support their schools! We have been told the best place to watch the event is on Chrissy Field or there are a few available seating areas in front of the Yacht Club. Please note, only members are allowed inside the club. Adventure of the Month: Jack London Square Farmers Market to the Bay Costume Sail
Leaving Richmond’s Marina Bay Yacht Harbor, head out on and Saturday morning. Head out the channel markers and head south across the Bay. Pass Angel Island and Treasure Island as you head under the new eastern span of the Bay Bridge. Once under the bridge, head past the Oakland port and into the Alameda channel. Continue on a couple miles and you will see the bustling of fruit stands, playing of live music, and the smell of great food from local vendors. Be sure to check out the remodeled patio at The Last Chance Bar, and grab some local fruits and veggies. Cap the afternoon off with a seafood lunch at Scott’s Seafood. If you want to continue the night in Oakland, just call one of the marinas in the area for a guest slip and enjoy the revamped and happening nightlife in Downtown Oakland and Jack London Square.
