Adventure of the Month: Half day trip around Treasure and Angel Island
Leaving Sausalito, head toward the San Francisco shoreline. Be sure to adjust the sails for the first portion of the ride, as the wind picks up quickly as you enter the “slot”, the open wind from the Golden Gate Bridge into the bay. Take a quick stop at the local farmers market or one of the new great restaurants along the SF embarcadero or continue on under the new Bay Bridge. Make a quick turn just after the bridge and head south around the west side of treasure island and back toward Angel Island. The wind usually quickly picks up, and set sail towards Angel Island up Racoon Straight. Keep your eyes out for the ever growing seal population on the bay as the fish season is in full swing. you can often times see them munching on a large salmon or stripped baas. Wrap the day up with a nice pizza and beer at the Bocci Bar or one of Sausalito’s great food spots! Please send us your pictures and day trips on the Bay. We would love to feature them on our website.
